Wheels - Alternatives

Well thanks for the advise on tyres. I had my eyes on some Buick 15" wheels (to put the tyres on),
so I bought them (see http://www.tripnet.se/rcos/sd1wheele.html
I now have a problem in that although the bolt holes are in the right place, the hole diameter is larger than on the rover wheels. The rover nuts chamfer is just wide enough rather than being wider than the hole as it is with the rover wheel (a picture would be a thousand words).
My obscure techie question is....can I buy thicker nuts (wider chamfer) for the same size wheel stud, are are Rostyle (Rover P5 ?) nuts thicker ? I do'nt want the wheels to pop off half way round a fast corner !

What you need is sleeved nuts - I used some for the Minilites on the TC and need some for the Wolfrace I have got as a spare set for the Cosmics on the V8

If memory serves me right Ian Wilson knows a guy who can spin some nuts up from stock or if not try Ian Trapp - that man has so many contacts it's frightening! Both emails should be on the Officials page.

Disaster, depression
My Buick wheels have too much offset and just catch where the base unit sticks into the wheel arch at the bottom of the door. ( I tested a wheel with a old tyre, before spending to much cash). They looked really good in a black and chrome rostyle sort of way too.
This is fustrating, why are alternative wheels for P6's so hard to find ? SD1 alloys and Minilites are not the look I want, any suggestions ? Anybody got a set of P6 Rostyles for sale ?.

Pete

I could be interested in the Wolfrace wheels, what do they look like ? I'm trying to keep the car "period", ie not late 70's.
It was admiring your Cosmic alloys that got me started on this quest, so it would be ironic if these were the answer !

Anybody in the market for some chrome Buick wheels for a wide arched P6 (P5 or SD1), or a Buick of course.

Just to let evreyone know, my alloys are coming on fine.

I've found a set of Wolfrace slot mags (thanks Pete) from the early/mid 70's (so they are period folks !) with 195/70 x 14 tyres. Ford RS2000 sleeve nuts are easy to get hold of, and the correct thread, the washer's fit the countersunk hole in the wheels. The nuts werer slightly larger than holes but my local machine shop rebored 4 wheels for £20 (the cheapest part of the whole process !). Finally Scimparts (Scimiter specialist) can supply centre caps, since Reliant Scimiters also had Wolfrace slots.

I'm a very happy bunny, just got to polish them now !
