Wipers fail to proceed!

I too have just read the complete wiper story, wonderful description, but became lost at the circuit diagram part.
I am having a problem with my wipers failing to even start, its was intermittent, now they wont start at all, which makes finding the fault very difficult. I checked the fuse first and all fused in the glove box are operational.
I think the next step is to remove the switch panel inside the car,
I removed the panel and inspected the rotary switch and all seemed OK, no broken wires etc , so reinstalled it and the panel.
Have others had the same problem and is it a know fault that the switch becomes worn out and needs replacing?
I have the car sitting there waiting for historic club registration but cant go forward until every thing works on the car.
Any help greatly appreciated..

I´m not the electric hero, but why not checked with multimeter from relay to the wiper motor, if it gets feed from the relay. If not, and feed TO the relay is ok, it´s the relay. From relay to motor everything ok, you should take wiper unit out (what I have done, it´s not that difficult) to check mechanical wise and motor wise.

the next question is ...where is the relay situated?
The wipers were working so the motor is operational or was......
