With the internet down why am I able to get this Forum?

I know the Forum is excellent for all things P6.
Am amazed when, like now, I am having internet problems (we primitives have a National Broadband Network which is the real issue) and two browsers claim to be unable to connect to the internet when I try any other sites yet are able to reach this forum.
Is it magic?

So the NBN is still pretty bad? I know of one bloke who likes to make youtube videos. He always uses his phone, and uses 4G to upload as NBN is so bad. How is your electricity supply these days?

Plenty of solar!
The nbn has been ok, though no faster than the old copper cable system.
However after recent problems we installed a new "Smart Modem" which we were sent about 9 months ago when we had a problem. The problem resolved itself before the modem arrived so we didn't change from our old one, but did do so last week after Telstra suggested it.
Yesterday's diagnosis blamed this modem so they are sending a "Smart Modern 2". Not confident it will work.

The CRF uses Lucas base code. Fortunately it it was developed before the internet so continues to work without a connection (assuming it doesn't let the smoke out).
Oh for a Lucas level of reliability. Would even undertake to use it during daylight hours only.

Technical answer... Your internet issues are probably DNS issues so you can find some sites and not others, rather than connection issues.

If you Google 'dns servers' you may be able to find an alternative to the standard one from your ISP.

Thank you Rockdemon.
CRF is the only site I can access whilst the whole thing is down, as it was again last night. After hanging on with my call to Telstra, our internet supplier, I gave up and also turned off the modems and went to bed.
This morning we have service again, for how long, I have no idea.

Hi, I have the same problem with mine ie. refusing to engage in the game, I just switch it off and back on again although mine has a push button on the back. It plays about for a couple of weeks then OK for months. I should replace it really but when it's working there's no urgency.

I'd like to pretend that it's because this site is wonderful (which of course it is :-D ) but it's a fluke.
