    Front caliper upgrades

Idling away the cold months here in NJ. I have a distant memory that the 3500 three pot calipers need the 3500 upright. Is this right or can I swap just calipers and discs?

    Exhaust manifold sealing TC

I’ve noticed that I get a slight leak from the exhaust manifold as it meets the head on my TC. The manifold is crack free but I may have introduced a small amount of distortion when I welded up a crack a few years ago. Two thoughts occurred to me: (1) That the copper/asbestos gasket rings...

    Valve stem height

Hi all, getting new valves, valve seats and guides fitted to Beryl’s cylinder head. The machinist has asked if there’s a specification for valve stem height above the guides or the head below the deck of the head. I’ve not found any in the manuals but thought someone here might have some...

Going a little in depth with the front suspension

As some of you know I'm playing with making adjustable spring seats for Beryl. I've already made the ones for the front, and will need to make the rear ones soon so I can fit them all. I've been chatting with @cobraboy about his findings when he built his Group 2 replica. This got me thinking...

    Beryl doing her thing.

Got lucky enough to be invited to the Drive til dusk event last month. They normally invite about 20 people to bring and drive their cars at the NY safety track near Cooperstown NY. We arrive on the first afternoon, meet up for a meal then stay overnight at a small bed and breakfast. We...

Very interesting post on Craig’s List

What claims to be a totally original survivor car with a very interesting history. First owner was an engineer on the Apollo program at JPL. Worth a read just for the history. 1966 Rover P6 2000SC - Unique original project with all...

    Shameless self promotion again!

As some of you guys know I started a company a few years ago reverse engineering and making parts for classic cars. Well, last week I got to be a guest on a podcast called Cars Yeah! It was about what I’ve done with the company and how we got there. If anyone is interested you can hear it here...

    Curious loss of charge

1969 2000TC with 11 AC alternator. All wiring in good condition. Driving home this evening on the Garden State Parkway. Notice that the fuel and temp gauge starts dropping along with headlamps. Sure enough I start losing power as ignition system losses power too. No charge in the battery, not...

    Securon 500/30 front inertia seatbelts

Does anybody know if the Securon 500/30 inertia seatbelts will fit into a series I interior? I know the SII seats had a cut out to feet the reels but I vaguely remember that there was a 'slimline' option available now? I do need to replace my belts due to age, and although the static ones look...

    Beryl lifts her skirts again.

I joined the VSCCA a few years back (vintage sports car club of America) and finally had the opportunity to attend the driving school at Spring Sprints to gain my racing license. My friend Ben and I are building a 1964 Mini Cooper S for racing but we missed getting it there in time. Fortunately...

    Another one in the US

Today I helped my friend Ted pick up his new (to him) 2000TC from the Newark Docks. The car has only done 29,000miles and the engine, suspension and interior certainly show that. There’s some rust along the door bottom on the RHS rear but it seems pretty solid on the whole.

    Beryl goes to the track.

I was invited to a classic track day by friends this week. I decided it was time to see how she’d do on a track. Had a very fun few sessions on the NY Safety Track in pretty wet conditions. The track is a 2.4mile road course with 18 corners and 450 foot elevation change. Unfortunately I have...

    I’m an idiot

This happened a couple of weeks back, but I thought it might raise a chuckle. I replaced the UJs on the prop shaft on Beryl. During which I lifted the car and used two 7/8” steel rods in the jacking points as per the manual (I know the jacking points are in good condition). Instead of my usual...

    Oil change question

Very simple question: Has anyone worked out how to take off the oil filter without it leaking everywhere? To be honest it may be a NADA model issue with the filter being stuck below the two brake servos so it’s impossible to turn it upside down upon removal.
