1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada for sale. NOW SOLD.

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

Good work Dave,

I never knew the pedals were floor mounted, I have an NOS p5 pedal but the are just straight. I did look at re-manufacture which is possible however when the company asked what it was for they weren't keen on making they because they would eventually fail in the same place making the part safety critical :(

I reckon they must have borrowed the pedal from some other car perhaps an American job? it s a shame that Ian Wilson is no longer with us as he would know either way. Did you ask his son or dad Joseph? I seem to remember that winns bought everything from rover classics but werent interest in the NADA parts which he was able to keep selling so worth asking if you haven't already because he did have a lot of nos bits.

For carbs I would give gower and lee a call, I have used them a few times and I still have a set of HS6 carbs under the bed which the refurbished to concourse spec so look as they would when new and not blinged up. Cost was very reasonable and worth every penny, They were able to source a replacement carb due to one being unsuitable for refurb.

Also worth mentioning David Green who does P5s. He will definitely have a manifold, carbs and AED to suit the early V8 and is also a reasonable guy to deal from.

Thanks for the info.
I will not be refitting an AED,just a std choke.
The carbs I will source and recon myself if they need it.
Can you post a few pics of the P5 pedal?

Been busy but here you go. The p5 suffers the same problem.

The gm box has a lock up top gear doesn't it?

Not as far as I know. To be strictly accurate it would be the converter, not the box that locks up .

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

Not exactly sure how the box works as i've not had a chance to drive it properly yet.
Only to MOT and back where it was not running well.
Once the reg number arrives,I can start proper road testing.
Think it has a vacuum connection that does something, but the kickdown cable is not connected to anything.

AFAIK the vacuum connection controls the shifts, and the cable just does the kickdown.

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

After a few cockups by the DVLA and the post office in loosing recorded mail causing a 3 week delay, then a couple of phonecalls to sort this out with the DVLA and post office,I am please to say that the Nada's registration is finally being processed today.
Hopefully by the end of the week,I can finally get to drive it legally.
I may allocate my VBP 6B reg to it,but it depends on how co-operative the DVLA are on my request to allocate an unused ?XC ???H Solihull area reg number.
I did give them a couple of XC numbers believed to be available, but just have to wait and see.

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

YAY!!
V5c arrived for the Nada on friday. :D
Its been allocated the reg number; MFX 614G,so they just went with the 1969 build date and didn't bother to look at the month as it should really be an H reg.
Not to worry, makes it look a bit older.
Once I have made up some temp plates I can drive it properly.
Still not sure if I will allocate the private plate VBP 6B "VB P6B" or not.
Got a couple interested in buying the car,so all depends if they want the reg as well.
TR6 has now been sold, and fully paid for and is being collected at midday today. 8)

Thats great! Followed the throttle pedal repair with interest as I need to R&R same.

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

The V8 chaps had a lush lady over for a bit of posing in the sun! :D

Re: A 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada refurb.

Some good news. You will be sad to see the TR6 go though.

The MFX is a Dorest registration code I think. Proper snagging time now.

Re: 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada now for sale.

Anyone interested in the NADA?
I am open to offers as it has to go soon due to the possible purchase of an XK8 in the next couple of weeks.
As long as the offer price is over £3k I am willing to listen.

Re: 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada now for sale.

Have just about done a deal to buy a great low miles/owner 1997 Jag XK8,and all being in order will pick it up this Weds 9th.
Once I have it the Nada will have to go ASAP,so somebody is going to get a bargain.

Re: 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada now for sale.

Nice looking car Pilkie.
I thought you vowed never to buy another one of these ?
Jags are allowed to park on double yellows up there ? We get done for walking on them down here !!
Good luck with the NADA sell off , and your health too .

Re: 1969 Federal P6 3500S Nada now for sale.

At the time I got my blue XK8 in 2011,I wanted to try a modern classic and the XK8 was top of my list.
Having had it and enjoyed it for 4 months while I did a body resto on my daily driver P6V8,I decided that a modern was not quite me,but it was a close call.
However times, priorities and circumstances change, and as I am now not really up to restoring another classic or working too much on them,i've thinned the fleet down by selling the TR6,and eventually the Nada will sell.
I am retiring/keeping my old faithfull daily driver of the last 15yrs,my white P6V8 for shows and weekend tinkering.
Therefore needing a reasonably,"hopefully" reliable modern classic that is undervalued,I started searching out another nice XK8 in the spec I wanted.
If anything goes wrong with it,I know where to get good s/h spares, and I have an old mate who still works at a Jag dealership who knows them inside out.
My private PLK1E plate will go on the Jag,and VBP6B will go on the Rover.
Still planning a trip to NZ in the new year all being well, and I look forward to meeting you for a natter.
