s-l1600.jpg Hi all....I wanted to introduce myself, I'm Gary from Los Angeles and I just purchased a 3500S, my first Rover. I've admired these from back in the sixties, but, never bought one. I've owned many other British and Italian cars, but I'm really excited about this car. I'll try and post some pictures, not very tech savy I'm afraid. My car is a 1972 S with a conversion 5 speed transmission. My best guess is this is from an SDI. My car is a home market car imported to the US about 2 1/2 years ago. it still carries registration XFK 585K, if anyone know some history on this car that would be great. That's all for now, looking forward to getting to know some you and I'm sure I'll have many questions going forward.

Hello Gary and welcome. What a really beautiful looking car. Nice colour! If this is your first Rover you are going to love it. As you have no doubt already discovered, they ride beautifully and are a joy to drive - particularly the V8. I also have a 1972 3500S and like you am not very technically savvy. For me, the pleasure of classic cars is the owning and the driving, not the fixing which I usually get someone else to do! However you will find lots of very helpful people on here who DO like fixing them and have tremendous knowledge of these cars. They should be able to answer most if not all of any questions you have. Enjoy your car - and let's have some more pictures. Welcome aboard.

Oh my, looks you went in near the top of the P6 tree. Those SD1 wheels look like they were made for the S2.

Welcome along here Gary. Looks like you got yourself a very good example of the breed. Bet that's a nice way to get around L.A. Is that your house in the background? ;)

Lovely looking car. From memory, "FK" registration area was Worcestershire (pronounced Woostershire). Perhaps you could call it Bertie!

Thanks for the well wishes...I just received the car from shipment and have logged less than 10 miles on it. However, the car was "as advertised" and had a mass of paperwork documenting ownership from new, many receipts, most MOT's and comprehensive restoration records. I feel very fortunate to have landed one seemingly this good. It'll be fun making it better and driving the "crap" out of it. It's my only car with a 'roof' so it should get some use winter and summer. More discovery to come, hope it is mostly good. It shares a garage with a '72 MGB, '69 Alfa Romeo 1750 and a '74 Jensen-Healy. (The Alfa is learning English.)
SoCalV8- I'm in Burbank, where are you?
mrtask- Not my house, nice understated digs, huh?
Willy- You are correct Sir, Worcestershire is where this was originally registered and remained there for about 14 years. I like "Bertie" seems to fit.

You're not too far from Tom then - 302Rover on this forum. He's in the Lake Hollywood/Universal part of town and drives a tasty 2000TC with a 302 Ford crate motor. I am down behind the Orange curtain - Garden Grove near the 405 and 22. We seem to be gathering numbers here in So Cal.

I know your area, not that far away (I like to drive, on Sundays). Toms TC does sound tasty, you guys ever meet up?

I do pop up and see Tom once in a blue moon - probably try to stop by sometime around Christmas. My car hasn't turned a wheel in quite a while - and won't any time soon :( But if you're ever driving down this way you can stop by and witness my startling lack of progress!

This is what 8 angry cylinders in Tom's car sound like...
