'reversing' P5 exhaust manifolds?

Hi, I'm going to try and squeeze a 3.5 into a small engine bay (Mk2 Cortina) and I'm looking at clearance challenges. One suggestion was to put the P5 exhaust manifolds on 'backwards' to have the exhaust exit near the front of the engine, then go down and under. Are the heads symmetrical in that way making this possible without having to modify heads or manifolds? Cheers,
Rob.

D'oh!

That was unfortunate, yes they are NOT handed.

Easy mistake to make! Saved you typing three extra letters....

If you do a pair of head gaskets it's still important to refit the heads back to where they came from though.

They were capital letters too, so an even bigger save :)

My heads are off having some porting done and will be skimmed, as well as having a light skim on the block, but I will still ensure they are fitted to the same bank although it probably won't make a great deal of difference.

If they are all thoroughly clean it won't make any difference, if they aren't then that can cause a problem.
