The P6 really is a 'compact sedan'!

'Hazel' has been out & about a fair bit recently, being enjoyed.

When I was returning to the car in a supermarket carpark the other day, I was quite shocked just how small it was compared to today's standard fare:

The Volvo to the right - fair enough - but look at the size of that Ford 'Kuga' on the left....

having swapped from a Triumph 2000 mk2 to the P6 3500S its a lot smaller there is more room around her in the garage
trouble with most parking slots is they are based on a Moggie minor so what ever you have wont fit well
I have a Citroen C5 Aircross it almost makes a Range Rover look Smaller
so waist lines and cars have all grown ....a lot

One of the nice things about driving them on the road is they are small. You have room move around whole still in your lane. Maybe it’s just me, but I love taking a line on back roads just to play without ever crossing the centre line.

Common over model changes is to always make newer models wee bit larger, selling point as new has new features, more room etc. have a look at mini , small compact car. BMW brought out mini one. Larger and more in line with larger cars we expect . Recent models are more like a Maxi than a mini! All older vehicles were small compared to modern. Eg Austin 7 price of manufacturing was key at time as small kept costs down and enabled more customers to buy. Try comparing say triumph midget sports car to a modern ! Peek at American cars now appearing here too. Eg ford f100

its designs on steroids Ha !
the latest Mini is pretty Grose and over fed on steroids
seems its now way beyond its names sake
agree Maxi is more suited ( and i had one of them with twin carbs it was well quick )

I had you down as a Waitrose customer :hmm:
More like Lidl…. ;)

In fact, there are no Waitrose shops within 20 miles of us, so I’m not an authority on them.

Am I being stereotypical to wonder if there’ll be plenty of big SUVs in their car parks?

Waitrose generally site their stores in affluent areas, to get the right sort of clientele for their wares. Don't want no hoi pilloi in there. :D

Try living this side of the pond. Lots of these leviathans around.

I often park my 3500S next to a new Mini, and always see the size difference. Mini now looks a big car, until a SUV comes along. What is the attraction of these monsters?
I have looked at original Mini and Imp of the same ag, and thought "This is all the car I need"
Now an Imp with Japanese reliability and build quality?

GM keeps trying to make small sedans instead of big ones... everyone just gave up on them and bought SUVs so they could sit up high and see all four corners...

I used to park my P6B next to the bosses BMW318 two door. Rover was noticably shorter but had much more room inside and a bigger boot...

It does at least really help bring it home to modern car drivers who not seen how 70s motoring really was! So very different!

seems a few less cars about with the cost of fuel having some influence
bring back covid (not really )so driving was like in the 60s
