Hi guys, long time no see.....

Hey gang,
Long time no see. Thought I'd just post an update as it's finally starting to look like a car. Slow progress is still progress. The engine is a 1985 3.5 that I've had running on a test stand after a 15 year hibernation. Car is originally a 3spd column auto, so I have a BW 66 in there to keep the cruisy vibe. Diff is a Toyota RN25. This is my first attempt at painting a car (I ended up using 2 pack - long story) but I think the results are acceptable. It's a good 20' car. Looking forwards to getting it going, it's now just death by 1000 cuts doing little jobs like fuel lines, brake lines, coolers and all that. I do miss chatting to you guys since selling the P6B but hopefully this project is allowable by the admins to be posted. Lots more details for anyone who's interested :)20240322_201743.jpg20240320_182047.jpg20240402_163637.jpg271048942_10159735481342866_7711553917568901871_n.jpg

Good that you've popped by to say hi and show us your progress with your RV8 Cortina, Rob.
What's with the plate on the front of the motor? Have you had to fit the water pump somewhere else so as to be able to cram a radiator in there too?

Cheers mate.
Yep it's a block off plate I made. I'm using a Davies Craig 150 electric water pump. I had hoped to fit a rad from another make model (trying to limit having custom bits made, and also trying to cut as little as possible out of the car) but there was just no room. I've had to cut a bit out of the support panel and a custom rad will be on it's way in a month or two. The old lump takes up a surprising amount of real estate compared to a 289, but to have the car legally registered I have to stay under 3.6l engine capacity (plus the alloy is SO much lighter than iron). At a later time I might have a timing cover converted to make it look prettier - but this will do for now.

We seem to be getting a few of these other marques, but this is a classic Rover forum :hmm: so how about a sub section to the members projects?

This thread is in it now :)

Yeah thanks for that - I wasn't sure if it was going to be allowable so thankyou for creating space. I just thought I'd pop up my head as I genuinely missed this forum, but the Corty is my only Rover....ish..... car I have since selling the P6B. Still appreciate the advice, too!

No problem, it's always been a bit of a grey area so that should sort it without diluting the Classic Roverness of the Forum.
