GRP WINGS

Looking at the last pic and going on quattro's 5' 6" the racer is not going to be more than 6" wider each side so that gives us 6' 6" in non European money. So as long as you have a 7' wide garage door its happy days.
I estimate from a rough measure that her Brown ness is going to be around 70" wide
OK, that paints this horse a whole different colour, then...
Maybe it's just the angle/perspective of the shots that are putting me off the front.

Thank you
Had a really good day on the car today, wings are now in guide coat primer. pics soon.

Process of forming a front wing.

I then laid up 2 layers of 450g mat and a layer of tissue.
One of the rears after filling and blocking the grp.

All four laid up, filled and blocked and given a guide coat of grey primer. The primer has pulled into the filler giving a blotchy look, and yes they are still lumpy at this stage.

They are now on the car and many hours of blocking is underway.

Hi Mark,
Looking the biz, pictures look great but dont tell full story of how many hours of work needed to get to that stage, i know when i look at mine:) cant wait to see when finished.
Regards,
Clive.

I took the wings of again to spray anti stonechip coating on the undersides then hung them back on. They are now as flat as I can get them (which is no where good enough)
so I plan on visiting my body guy soon so he can see what he is up against.
Put on a coat of scruffy silver on the front wings to match the stripped bonnet and boot and other scruffy silver panels.
As for the driving............... well pretty good actually, superb at speed on the dual carriageway, still needs tyre pressure and damper tweeking to cope with rough undulating roads, but the car shows great promise.

That does look very nice!
To get your panels flat, you are going to need a high solid filler primer and a few crates of elbow grease.
Spray on the primer and sand it flat, repeat until you are happy with the results. That is where the final
look of any paint job is made or broken, and why it can be so expensive.

Thank you Sir
Well it has been a while but I have been chipping away at it. The wings are now as good as I can get them and the car is now in scruffy silver to match the bare alloy panels.
The plan is it will stay like this for the rest of the season to allow some actual driving to be done
When it goes for paint I will entrust the final shaping to the body man.
