The adjustment knob for the windscreen wiper variable speed on my 72 TC ( which is on the steering column) is just a white plastic item with grooves on it. Should it have a proper black knob on it? If it should has anyone got a spare one?

I have just ordered a new seal from Wins in the UK as my drivers door seal has a bit missing from the rubber due to wear. I will keep the old one now thanks to the advice given here! Before I start can someone tell me if the seal is a push fit or does it need glue/sealant? Perhaps it may be...

Thanks for that, the leak is onto the floor and luckily not into the car. I can top it up for now whenever I take the car out for a run. The steering is much better and lighter with fluid in the box!!The car is going in for a carb tune up and fitting electronic ignition very soon so I can ask...

OK there is a leak of fluid from the steering box. Does anyone know a likely suspect for the area of leaking and can it be stopped without removing the steering box which looks to me like a bit of a difficult job!

OK I take the point , if there is a leak of the oil I have put in it I will admit defeat!!

The previous owner who is honest but not technically inclined says there have been no oil leaks over the three years he has had the car. He had it serviced at a local garage so I reckon the garage never checked the steering box oil level!!!! He wanted the car to have a full paper service...

It's funny how you look at complicated solutions( well I do!!) when you should check the simple things first. The car has a very good service record but obviously nobody bothered to check the oil in the steering box ( me included) after a quick check I could not see the surface of any oil in it...

Thanks again for the suggestions. I took my tyres up to 28 psi( no improvement!) . There are no ball joints to grease but I will check the oil level in the steering box and when I can find another jack I will get the front wheels in the air and fiddle with the steering box. There is nothing in...
