Ron, I have done something to the whole forum display - it only occupies 1/3 of the screen, in the centre. How do I get back to normal please? All the text is tiny...?
thanks

i cant get it warm because it refuses to start at all, and yes the throttle was wide open, i have tried timing and everything else i have read about but it is as stubborn as ever,
i have now sent it back to the shed that it came from and swapped it for a "76 3500 auto and i might come back to it sometime in the future.

I wouldn’t say that 110psi is low enough to stop it starting. I’m guessing you’ve checked fueling and spark? Might be worth static timing for the ignition. Also, check spark plug gaps.

One thing to also check, try a drop of oil in each cylinder, if you’ve turned over the engine a lot without firing you might have washed the oil off the cylinder walls.

yep i have checked fuel and spark, plug gaps might be a problem, and yes there was oil in the cylinders during compression testing and my starting attempts.
as i said before i have swapped it for a blue 3500 in my other shed and may come back to this 2000 sometime in the future.
A.B. Bonds, a.k.a. gbvona was my high school buddy. We graduated together in 1964. He passed away suddenly last year, and through the incredible generosity of his brother and sisters the car is now in my hands. He had done an incredible job with it mechanically. Runs like a champ. Am ready to paint. Does anyone have a paint code for Sage Green? Rover part no. for one gallon is 389096.

can't help with paint code but I did find when I needed rear lower valance painted that the car has been repainted by previous owner and was NOT per paint code. many paint shop/suppliers can and do match paints .. I just needed to take a painted part in for them to match picked up part and paint 24 hours later.

Hi All need help what size is the Draught excluder side, and top window door glass on Range Rover Classic 2Dr 1978
Hello again Guys, My p6 is an1971 2000 auto, Not having driven an auto before, I feel that I am needing to over -rev the engine to achieve forward motion and after braking ,to get moving again it seems to require excessive revs to regain speed! IS IT ME OR IS THIS WHAT AN AUTO IS LIKE ??
Hi, all, I seem to have a problem with water ingress into the drivers side footwell, I know that the windscreen rubber needs replacing, (so does the rear, and I have them!), but is there anywhere else that I should be concerned about ?? Cheers!
I Have just completely rebuilt my front suspension new springs top and bottom ball joints. Quite a difficult job but where there's a will there's a way. On my Rover P6 2000 SC 1970.
I have parts for Rover P6, these are original parts; 2 x Boot Badges 3500, one in excellent condition the has a mark on the front; Indicator Stalks 54320842, Horn, High Beam & Dip Stalk 39614A. A large number of interior door handles amongst other stuff. If you are interested in any of these parts get intouch via the forum or jillianpreston@hotmail.co.uk.
Lost a res. full of brake fluid in a coulpe of days of non-use, seems to come from front left & rear, does this sound like a major job, or some seals rotted, unable to inspect. Topped up & pumped a bit & o.k. to get me to get more brake fluid. I live in hemel hempstead if anyone know of a competent garage nearby. thanks
Lovel, By any chance do you recall the colour of the speedo driving gear (fits on the output shaft) in your LT77 please? and the colour of the smaller gear in the output fitting?

There is surface rust on the steering arms, but a wire brush will sort that out. The paint job on the rear wing and rear O/S door isnt too bad but a fine polishing paste and a buffer will sort that out too. Overall I'm happy with it and even on a fairly cold morning with full choke it started first time. The steering is a bit heavy though, any ideas?

One more thing, about 3 or 4 weeks ago I was coming back from Bridgewater and a red p6 was turning right. The dates a bit vague, but was it you by any chance?

It's my first p6, but not my first classic. Late 90s I had a ford consul, after that hillman super minx, ford anglia 105E super, mk1 Cortina then the last one I had was another 365 consul hi line. In between that I had a suzuki gt500 twin.
Hello jp28 - I understand you have fitted SD1 alloy wheels. Please can you confirm if the P6 front hub dust caps can be used. I understood the SD1 rubber dust cap is required given the diameter of the hole at the centre. Previously, when fitting SD1 wheel trims, I had to trim down the height of P6 dust caps to permit fitting.
Much appreciated,

Simon
