    Recommendations for carb balancing

I am all for "do it yourself" approaches but the Unisysn is very compact and inexpensive at approximately $30 USD so I went the easy route on a balancer.

    Recommendations for carb balancing

I also use the unisyn on my '68 2000 TC. I have 2" HD8 carbs, so use a short piece of 2" rubber hose in the carb inlets to clear the studs on the carbs. That still leaves plenty of room to work between the carbs and the inner wing.

What is a reasonable life expectancy for a car battery?

I generally expect 5 years of reliable life for a battery on a car that sees regular use and has a good charging system. I have had luck extending the life of the batteries on my vehicles that do not see regular use by using a battery maintainer, that includes a desulfator, when the vehicle is...

    Curious loss of charge

I am not sure what the stock pully on the A127 alternators looks like but the one that was on the new 18ACR was significantly smaller than the one I used.

    Curious loss of charge

Hi Steven, when I replaced the original dynamo on my car with an 18ACR, I was advised to go with the larger diameter pulley and did that. With the larger pully, the alternator is providing sufficient charge at idle speed with considerable electrical load, so all is good. I have not calculated...

    overriders for beginners

If you want to see what the spacers look like, search "overrider mounting wedge" on the Wins site. I used 2 originals for my car and also made up 2 replacements with some plate and the welder as a couple of them were to far gone to reuse.

    1968 2000 TC Restoration Project

The bore had similar scuffing and gouging at the same spot you can see the gouge off to the right on the skirt on the one photo. The depth of the gouge in the bore drove me to go to the 2200 diameter pistons. I did not get any photos of the bores, it was just too hard to photograph well. There...

    1968 2000 TC Restoration Project

As I was going through the old parts from my project I looked again at the pistons wondering why there was so much scuffing and scoring on the one piston. Was there a fit problem resulting in slap, insufficient lubrication. It would be great to hear other peoples thoughts based on the photos...

    1968 2000 TC Restoration Project

My 2000 TC is still running well. I have now over 600 miles since the restoration was completed. I would probably have put on more miles if it wasn't for the pandemic restrictions. My new issue is the fuel tank sender. The original had stopped functioning long before the restoration project...

    1968 2000 TC Restoration Project

After reassembling everything and some more test trips, I still had a small coolant leak and it looked like the problem had to be the water pump. Once again I removed the radiator and water pump and checked things out. I was planning on just replacing the water pump gasket. An inspection of the...

    Difficulty fitting rear screen

I recently removed and reinstalled the rear screen on my car as part of it's restoration. I followed the instructions in the Rover workshop manual and it went fairly smoothly. I have a couple of photos attached of removing the SS trim after the glass and rubber seal were removed but nothing...

    Rover P6

I have a 1968 2000 TC that I just finished restoring. The story of the rebuild is covered in a thread located under member projects. The 2000 TC drives well and has enough power to overtake safely at highway speeds. I feel that it is an all around good modern classic.

    Engine whine at mid RPMs

Unfortunately I do not recall the manufacturer of the replacement chains I used in the rebuild. I also used replacement Rolon tensioners and replaced both chain guides/dampers. I did not replace any of the chain wheels as they seemed OK. I read about the issues with the Rolon tensioners after I...

    Engine whine at mid RPMs

I processed my audio file with a spectrum analyzer to see if I might get some more information on the frequency of the "whine" to support my camshaft chain wheel hypothesis. The analysis shows the noise mostly centered just above 500 Hz with harmonics at 1.2 and 1.7 kHz. I should say that this...
