Yes I will try to do something. First thought is to get a piece of wide rubber tube about 3" long, jam it into air intake then put the tool on the end of it. So long as there is no air leaking in anywhere should be ok

Ok haven't watched the paint restoring thing yes but can report on the tuning....So bought the balancing tool thing the chap uses. Took the aircleaners off. The usual moment of truth... there are two studs that the aircleaner bolts go into right on the edge of the carby air intake. So the...

Hi Brian, It's a great Youtube channel. I used to own a 71 Jag so he hit the right soft spot with me! His piece on tuning the SU carbs is very good, easy to understand and points me to getting a tool to measure the air intake, ( although I know about the rubber hose technique). My summation...

So car is finally back on the road with the assistance of a new (secondhand) gearbox. Only regret is that i spent months trying to adjust the old gearbox when it obviously needed a major overhaul. Very lucky to track down a good secondhand one. Of course up until a week ago couldn't actually...

    Clock

Ok so i got the clock apart, (with some damage to the front black ring). Cleaned the little point things. Dropped a tiny screw but amazingly found it again. Hooked up a spare battery. Got it make a little click so assumed it was winding up the spring. But it would only go for a few turns of...

    Window rubbers

I found door window rubbers pretty easy to replace except that the ones I bought were not as good as the originals, didn't have the metal strip in them. Pity but sometimes you have to make do.....

    Gearlever problems

I am also having trouble with difficult gear change - mainly 2nd gear. My gear lever has a brass acorn but there is no bush in the selector shaft cup and the acorn is quite loose. The diameter of the cup is 21mm (about .62"). I was advised that the plastic bush wouldn't fit my setup so I've...

    Notchy gearbox 2000 TC

Thanks Demetris. I have a factory manual for a SC and I imagine procedure is the same. So reading the manual it seems to be basically saying that the selector lever should be set while it is in first gear, bolt loosened, gear lever then moved to the reverse position, bolt tightened. Also...

    Notchy gearbox 2000 TC

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions. Sorry for late reply, new baby in house, going to work etc etc. There's a lot to reply to so I'll start at the top: Harvey it is a series one gear linkage, ( as sdibbers said), so I guess more prone to getting out of line than the series 2. The...

    Notchy gearbox 2000 TC

Hi all I recently had the engine and box out of my 2000. Now back in but gearbox is really cranky and notchy. With engine off I can change the gears but can still feel the notchiness. However, when driving I can scarcely get her into 2nd gear, except by double de-clutching. Once she's in 3rd...
