I am putting the engine back in my 1964 rover 2000 after giving it a checkover and clean up, before i can start it i need a couple of bits, i need 2 spark plug connecters/caps that go onto the spark plug in the head, also 2 of the screw in caps at the other end of the lead that go into the dizzy...

She only got rid it of it in november 2007, up until then it was in her garage at the same house where it had been since it was new (last driven in 1987) Ive told her that i will stay in touch and hopefully show it to her when its back to its former glory. :D

I had a lovely little parcel come through the door today, The lady whos father bought the car new manged to find and post me the original handbooks including the service book with the last stamp at 3155 miles in 1969. Chuffed to bits :D

The fluid reservoir/plastic bottle on my 64 2000 is split and leaking so i need a replacement, has anyone got one to spare ? or know where i can get one ? Paul.

Thanks for the info, Im pretty sure the difference is only in the early blocks and head gaskets(which makes sense) so i should be ok using the head from the 67 car, im 99% sure that all 2000 SC heads are the same. Thanks to everyone that helped to put my mind at rest. Paul.

So from what i understand its only the blocks that are different not the heads, so as long as i use the correct early type all-steel 'Corgasyl' head gasket for my early block i should be ok ? Paul.

Thanks for the help and info, i dont have any book with cylinder head info, i put the question to the head gasket suppliers and this is the answer they gave me, "The bore size of the early engine is smaller that the later one, and the head gasket is much thinner. We do not know if later heads...

I had a bit of spare time today so i went to the heritage motor centre and checked out what information they held on my car in the archive reading room . Unfortunately they dont have much info in the way of build specs/data only build dates, despatch dates, the dealer the cars were dispatched...
