Water pump cavitation damage - anyone had this?

Anyone haa a P6 timing cover disintergrate due to cavitation from the water pump? At high rpm, the impellor creates small bubbles that wear away the surface of the alloy until it becomes so thin it crack/leaks; it looks like its like highly polished corrosion. Below is picture of a Range...

vacuum - anyone have a vacuum guage fitted?

Wondering what your vacuum guage shows at idle. I have TIM guage fitted on to the inled manifold and it reads higher (i.e. less vacuum than it should have). Only possible reason is air leak but I have not been able to find one so maybe the guage is out or the vacuum is how it should be.

    P6 oil pump

I am replacingthe timing cover and oil pump from my engine with those from SD1. I have Haynes manual for P6, Rover 3500 and Range Rover, but the oil pump does not match any of those in the manuals (well it wouldn't match the last 2). The main difference is my filter hangs vertically...
