I've now ordered one of those as well. Being just the head it may allow me to retain the original shaft. With the two orders i'll have plenty of spares :)
This socket part of the throttle linkage between the carbs has broken. I've seen similar looking things on the internet but I'm not sure if they are right. Does anyone know what this part is called or where I might get one from?
I'm thinking of getting a remote engine starter but the leads won't reach the battery in the boot
I thought i could use a separate battery up front. Would this be ok leaving the original battery connected?
Yes i'm at the limit of adjustment
I can't see what rpm the new one is rated for. What it does say is if the old alternator has a different pulley to swap them over
The fan belt 130mm but i see there is a 1125mm belt fitted to some models so i have ordered one of those
I thought to get the...
I'm replacing my original 45amp alternator with a 65 amp one
The new pulley is around 2cm smaller
Should I swap pulleys or get a new fanbelt?
Thankingyou
SOLVED
I replaced the servo which was needed anyway. I tried carb cleaner all around and the carbs seemed to be returning off throttle
But this is why the idle was so high: when i put the carb back on at Christmas i must have pulled on the choke cable too much and possibly pushed the choke...
Et voila :D
You inspired me to do just that
I used the Mountney wheel centre, removed the horn push and drilled three cut outs around the ring to line up with the three nodules on the badge
I now have a "a disc that attaches to the badge and clips into the wheel centre" :D
Thanks.
I can go...
I'm wanting to fit the centre from my Rover wheel onto my newly bought Moto-lita (which is using a Mountney boss)
The centre is just a few mm too big to slot down into it. I don't really want to file any off the Rover part and if i open up the steering wheel it won't fit snugly on the boss
Has...
I have disappearing brake fluid
Usually when i am away from the car for a few weeks the reservoir empties but no pools of fluid around
I have found fluid in the servo
And a small amount around the top of the pedal inside the car (nothing like the amount going missing from the reservoir)...
Right, i need to do more work on this car or on a more regular basis
Around April last year the first job i had to do after buying the car was drain and remove the tank to clean out rusty deposits. So i was familiar with how these pipes connected. A year later i assume i still am familiar but...
For the last few months i have had a brake fluid loss. I often don't visit the car for weeks at a time but the reservoir always needs filling when i do. I had assumed it was coming from a flexi pipe i replaced last year but it isn't
This week after starting the car for the first time in a few...
All gauges and lights now fixed with a new fuse at 19 / 20. I now know what i did to blow it (connected a too powerful fan)
Hopefully do the alternator brushes next and then search for the vacuum leak
In the meantime i may remove the fuel sender to see why fuel is leaking out of it :)
Thank you guys, i'm sure it is the pipe on the inside which has come loose. The two connections on the outside are tight and it all wobbles around and you can just tell it is what those connections are attached to which is moving
Thanks for the pics and info. When i get chance i will get under...
Fuse 19/20 says Ignition system which, seeing as you've said is the one which controls all these items on your car, makes more sense. I didn't really know what it meant but definitely worth a look and voila, a broken fuse:
Now that i have found that it is obvious what happened. I did have an...
Or did i order the wrong ones?
I was advised this looked like a Lucas ACR 18
So i ordered these Alternator Brush Set Lucas 15,16,17,18 Acr Kit Lax31-322 Wood Auto Abr5406 788863059389 | eBay
They're different to what is in there. Longer springs and have an extra piece on one of them
If...
After six months of none use i suddenly have no indicators, stop lights, hazards or squirters (i also have no fuel, oil or temp gauge but these could the voltage regulator?)
It's a 1973 series 2 V8
On idle i have a flickering ammeter and on/off ignition light. I am replacing the alternator...
