    Shake, rattle and roll....

Hi Nick, Looking at your pictures it looks as though the gauze filter in your car has been adapted from a later one. The inner sleeve having been cut and folded over and the gauze splayed out. I seem to recall that the early breather appeared flatter and wider than the later ones. Could you not...

    Ebay sellers what the F###

Not sure why they are taking that attitude. I used to sell alot of classic car parts on ebay. I would send anywhere in the world, sent alot of stuff to Australia, Japan and even sent a BMC 1100 steering rack to Hawaii! I was always amazed how quick stuff would get to people. Had very little trouble.

    series 1 V8

Yes, I do like that car. This looks like one of the best series 2 restorations I have ever seen. Combining the engineering improvements of the series 2 with the clean lines of the series one and getting rid of the cheapy series 2 bits such as plastic grille. This car should go for a premium, it...

Rear shock lower mount - not symmetrical

The 2200 cars had the same rear suspension layout as the V8. So didn't have the domed lower damper bracket.

Hi Looks like you were at Coventry the same day I was there. That's a very nice car you have. Did you try the DC6 diner nearby?

    The Five Colours of 2000

Thanks Nick, The car I was offered was a white 63 car. Yes, I saw the cigarettes at Gaydon, also the salesmans tie. I also have an early salesmans guide, in a mini ring binder. Still looking for the early car!

    The Five Colours of 2000

Wedgewood blue for me. Copperleaf must be so rare especially in original paint, didn't it used to oxidise really badly? Talking of uber rare early S1 stuff, has anyone got any Rover 2000 cigarettes? One other thing many years ago I was offered an early P6, one thing I recall is that it had a...

    The Guvnor

Never seen a 3500 on an S plate, did they build the P6 V8 alongside the SD1? Or was this another case of government buying the last batch of an outgoing model. Wasn't the hub cap issue mainly confined to S1 cars? They had a different claw fixing to later cars.

    JXC 808D at Silverstone

I went to the Silverstone Classic last weekend. Got to wander about in the pit garages and was surprised to see JXC 808D now in Blue. Unfortunately, I did not see it being raced in anger, it only did about 2 laps at the back of the pack. Good to see it's still very much alive and being well...

    Endeavour

I agree it would have been unlikely, Humber Wolseley or Ford 'Z' more likely if the police were supplying it. At that time wasn't there still a waiting list? I remember reading Lord Young recalling owning a P6 in the sixties, he said he bought it new drove it for 6 months and sold it for more...

    Endeavour

As you say it looks so modern compared with other vehicles. Many of use probably don't remember the impact the P6 made back in 1963. I was talking recently to a gent in his 80's about cars he said 'Yes, there was one Rover it looked really different from the others, what was it, ermm, 2000 was...

Rover 2000 TC EML 679J on ebay

I know this car has appeared on this forum before, but is again for sale on ebay, this is about the third time I have seen it over the years. This car brings back memories for me when it was owned by it's original owners Mr and Mrs Cousins of Saltford near Bath. It was always pristine, they even...

2000 TC (?) tax exempt on eBay

On left of engine bay is the sticker giving details of the car, it clearly says 2000 - no mention of TC. Mind you with the carb fitted like that the vendor probably does not know why Rover use the designation 'TC'. If you were to talk to the owner you would probably find that they were age 4 and...

    1966? I dont think so!!

Looks like i made a mistake about the wing cut outs, JXC did have them, still think it's a s2 though!!

    1966? I dont think so!!

Not a '66 car I'm sure. The under bonnet view has the front inner wing cut outs for brake servo and coil, the 2000 base unit did'nt have these. Brake fluid reservoir is post '68 type. Door handles, dash, quarter window regulators, boot trim are all s2. I know that these cars are great for...
