    P6 Pinion and rack PAS

Hej Per, I sourced a DCE Microsteer system for my P6 3500 LHD (Sweden) which I had to do the installation bits for. I made a report which you can find on the dealers website https://vb-pim-bucket.s3.eu-north-1.amazonaws.com/assets/manuals/ea2ed8cf-ccaf-42d0-8517-b6d5ae7762dd.pdf Apart from the...

    Neatening the boot lining

My previous owner(s) had patched up what remained of the rubber with contact glue to body. A sore sight!

    Neatening the boot lining

Yes, you should be really satisfied! Putting the sidewall lining on panel is a great improvement over the original "curtain" hanging from a piece of wire.

    Neatening the boot lining

Hi Paul, I was looking for a narrower wheel with the same 5x127 mm bolt circle and found that a Chrysler Voyager minispare could fit. The dimension is 145/90D16. Model year 2008 - 2010. It is strange to call it a minispare because it looks huge. The diametre is larger than the original 185/14"...

    Neatening the boot lining

It sure looks neat! The matching does not look too bad considering that so much of the original velvet like carpet remains that a complete recovering was not required. I did not have much choice since my boot was a disaster. I also had the idea to gain some volume by relocating the spare and...

    Neatening the boot lining

I can't help you. A previous owner made a custom stainless steel battery box that had the spacer in it but, like you, I did not understand the meaning of it. With my sloping cover, I neither had space nor need for the original cover. The rather flimsy frame holding down the battery and nearly...

    Neatening the boot lining

I agree - looks fine. I used 1.5 mm aluminium and automotive rubber backed carpet both of which could not be stretched to follow a dished shape. Just be bent. Hence my need for a window in the panel to install the battery. The panel itself is held in place by a single screw but interlocks with...

    Neatening the boot lining

Problem with the RH side panel is that, if single curvature, it cannot easily be made deep enough to clear the battery well and allow installing the battery. My RH panel is identical to the LH side and follows the flat face next to the boot seal. It is held in place by a chimney nut (nutsert?)...

I am in Sweden - hence our "near side" is to the right!

    Neatening the boot lining

"Near side" is left hand side in OZ - right? The bulge, as seen in the trimmed panel and barely visible in the aluminium panel behind the spare, is for the exhaust pipe. If you make plywood panels, I propose you make a local section in aluminium similar to mine and attach it to the plywood. It...

Thanks! Check my thread "Boot interior" May 3, 2023, in this forum for more details including space saver (width only!). P-G

    Neatening the boot lining

Hi, I made 1,5 mm aluminium panels and trimmed them with automotive grade textile carpet. The boot floor is 12 mm plywood. And fitted a “mini” spare to gain width. P-G

    rear caliper overhaul

The radical solution is to replace the driving brake function with standard double piston calipers (in my case from Saab 99/900) and keep the original calipers as parking brake only. My diff carrier was rather rusty and had been repaired previously which was fixed by replacing it with a bespoke...

    BW35 stopped shifting into third

I also suspected low level and added fluid to well over top mark but It did not make any difference. But it is very difficult to read the dipstick. /P-G

    BW35 stopped shifting into third

Hi harvey6, It felt like it started in 1st when I selected “2” but could be my mistake My point was that it stayed in 2nd regardless if in “2” or “D”. It lost the ability to select 3rd while driving without me operating the lever. I.e. a problem with the linkage could not have occurred. /P-G

    BW35 stopped shifting into third

Hi, Yes, reverse works fine. Drives exactly the same with the selector in “2” and “D” positions. Starts in 1st and goes into 2nd but not into 3rd. Regards, P-G

    BW35 stopped shifting into third

Hi all, My MY70 P6 with undefined milage but probably less than the age indicates stopped shifting into third today. It used to do 72 kmph/45 mph (GPS speedo) at 2000 rpm which corresponds to the nominal gearing (36 kmph @ 1000 rpm). I noticed that the speed started to drop relative to the rpm...

    Windscreen - where to find?

Thank you for your kind offer. My friends will travel from Sweden with a trailerload to sell at the Autojumble and can bring a windscreen back to me. Which one depends on my preferences. ampwhu has offered a Sundym and I might have two options for clear glass screens.

    Windscreen - where to find?

I appreciate your offer which certainly will beat a Pilkington quote. And your location is within reach for my friends travelling back to Sweden via the Chunnel (I guess). Is your screen in good condition?

    Windscreen - where to find?

Thanks! This is of course the obvious option to get a screen. I will contact them for a quote and possibility to pick up the screen. My friends travel back to Sweden which avoids shipping which is both costly and risky.

    Windscreen - where to find?

My windscreen looks fine but meeting low sun I was completely blinded by the dazzle. The glass surface is smooth so it must be the lamination film that has become a bit milky. Regardless, I must find a replacement. Which seems impossible in Sweden. I have friends travelling with trailer to...

    Boot interior

I agree that the volume is good but the shape makes it difficult to take advantage of the space. The depth is not large enough to put the spare flat on the floor in my 3500, but still useful with the vertical narrow section minispare (which also is too large to put on the floor). Hiding the...
