I have driven the car now. It is transformed. Amazing what you can tolerate as normal when you are accustomed to it. It feels like it has power steering, everything is quieter at speed and all vibration gone. I think the Vredesteins look pretty good too. They have a slightly built out...
Having read a cautionary tale of a motorway blowout on another post it stuck in my mind that the tyres on my S1 P6, although legal, were getting very long in the tooth. Three years ago, they were already over ten years old, as the tyre place pointed out from the date stamp when I took them for...
Cheers. Never done anything like that before but I am firmly in the using your classic camp and still basking in the afterglow of a great day. Thankfully my son shot plenty of footage both in and out of the car.
BRG looks great on these cars. That S2 looks very well sorted. We have missed too many of these friendly meets and hope to return soon. We had a good excuse last month as we ran in the London to Brighton and lived to tell the tale. I'll save the big story for when I actually get there again...
Well we made it there and back. Bumped into Danny Hopkins, editor Practical Classics and his P6 S1. Attached is the photo of the matching pair. Danny, is the one who is actually looking at the camera. Professional media type.
Anyone else entered? I have entered with my son as navigator. It is actually Brooklands to Brighton racecourse via a scenic 100 mile route. Not quite the Peking to Paris but it's a start...
I finally got to watch it last night and the Range Rover one. I was surpised even after reading this forum. If it had been an original escort I could understand the price but this one had been messed about with. Still each to his own. I don't remember so much about the Range Rover because by...
Headlight alignment and screenwashers. I count myself lucky, albeit having had some fairly major (inboard discs  ) work between this one and the last.
Haven't heard from him no...
Haven't seen it yet. I too had a MK1 which was stolen at a time when the aftermarket wheels were worth more than the car  Still got the V5 if it ever turns up. Reckon it was broken for parts. We can console ourselves that our hugely undervalued P6s make them accessible and relatively...
Fired up the P6 tonight to collect the children from swimming. I love using it for mundane runs especially when I can park it with some door opening space around me ie. not Tesco.
You guys and girls are all great. If I was properly organised I would have it all booked up in advance. Bring on...
:( Is the next meet this saturday? 1st saturday every month? I predict good weather for you. I can't get there this saturday though. Going to pick up new modern. It's made by Ford. At least they've been around a while. Fired up the P6 tonight to collect the children from swimming...
I suppose you are revelling in summer there just now. My baby is tucked up in the garage waiting for the snow to clear. When I was there I lived in Turramurra and then Manly. Commuted to the SOB (State Office Block) via Circular Quay. This would have been in 1990. It seemed to be Holdens...
You know, changing it isn't as easy as I thought. Replace bulb, screw back together, bulb is pushed up sleeve and loses contact. Am I missing a spring? :?
Do you think the 50th anniversary will increase the value of our cars overnight? Would it be a good thing anyway? "Be careful what you wish for!" Apart from a meet we need a rally don't we, to celebrate? Not volunteering to organize  but volunteering to turn up
Hi Mike et al. Well done with the pictures. Good to meet you all. We were made very welcome. It was a beautiful run through the countryside and a journey we will repeat as soon as we get the opportunity. I hope the weather sets a pattern for future meets and 2013 driving in general. Like...
Hi Kevin,
Welcome. I spent some happy times in Sydney and around Australia in 1990. Seems like a former life now. Aquired my P6 last year. Apparently very sound but I have benefitted greatly from the clubs support. Good luck with the car.
cheers
Greg
