Exactly those. Surprisingly cheap for Craddocks Emporium to boot. Many thanks.

I'm after a full gasket set for a 2.6 six cylinder, the engine is a Land Rover one, but I would think a P4/P5 gasket set would be more than suitable for it. Thanks in advance.

Years since I actually did the job. Just wondered if the experts can do it any quicker?

    timing belt car sos

Ok then, impress me... How quickly can you do head gaskets and an oil cooler? Book time for the gaskets is so.ething stupid like 28 hours. The one I got lumbered with had split the oil cooler and been run until the water went solid and it overheated, someone told the owner a little bit of oil...

    timing belt car sos

Best to fit a complete kit and do it properly really. I recall a chap from Gates (timing belt kit manufacturers) telling me that the main reason they get belt failures these days is idler/water pump/tensioner failure depending on what else the belt drives. The belts themselves aren't quite up...

    More 5-speed waffle... MX5?

An Omega engine and box could be an interesting conversion. The 4 pot ones go fairly well for what they are, the V6 ones fly, but are an utter twat to work on, 29 hour book time for head gaskets anyone? If you had space to work on it in the car then worth it, otherwise best avoided.

    AAAArrrgh Help gear box suitabilty

I know there's not much holding them on, but an inch or two difference in length adds up one way or another. Disco ones are certainly a lot different in length, whilst there's the 'stubby' R380 that Land Rover did to fit in where the short bellhousing LT77 came out has a mega short bellhousing...

    AAAArrrgh Help gear box suitabilty

In Land rover applications (my area of expertise the R380 has a shorter bellhousing to compensate for the slightly longer 5th gear housing meaning the R380 would fit in the space vacated by an LT77. The V8 R380 must be a Morgan or TVR job? Both decent boxes though, the LT77s reputation for...

3.9 engine wiring loom help please.

Is the loom from a V Belt or Serp engine? Serp ones are a bit more integrated with the vehicle wiring so will have a few extras that don't need connecting. Pic 1, unsure but I don't recall it as vital for running the engine. Pic 2, relays go in here, they need to be 5 pin type. 4 pin ones will...

    My 2000SC Auto daily driver

Sunset at Kippford, down the poor end though... I can weld, very well, as I half mentioned at the Kirkcudbright run out. A few nice examples of my work currently on display at the workshop (a Forward Control chassis pulled back from the brink is my current favourite) and I'm not adverse to...

    LT77 into 3500 swap - a few questions!

Being as they were used in a lot of land rovers there's a few companies out there who will rebuild em nicely with odd design mods for a few hundred quid. Not a bad option says I.

    Save a V8!

Had a look. Not the worst I've ever seen. I've rebuilt worse, and have the facilities to do it. What's the script?

    Ian Callum Mark 2 Jaguar

I like what they've done with it, although I don't have enough enthusiasm for Mk II Jags to want one. In terms of modernising a P6 I'm very much in love with the look of them in Monza Red and British Racing Green with a set of Vitesse alloys. There's a slightly perverted part of me thinks that...

    Fuel Injected fun...

It'll run well enough, although I'm not sure if the map will have enough adjustment in its settings to deal with the smaller cylinder capacity. In theory it bases fuel injection timings on the amount of air going in, throttle position, along with fuel and engine temperature, opening the...

    Fuel Injected fun...

Maps are different between the 3.5 and 3.9 ECU's. The 3.5 ones were specific to 3.5 engines, whilst the later 3.9 ones contained maps suitable for 3.9 and 4.2 engines, these were chosen with the 'tune resistor' which tells the engine which map to run, and if it should be looking for the lambda...

    Fuel Injected fun...

Worth noting that 14CUX systems won't work properly with your cheap 'generic' lambda sensors, and does need to be fitted up with the correct ones for the system. I forget the exact reasoning, but it's to do with the working range of the sensor being different enough as it would make incorrect...

10 bolt head gaskets with 14 bolt heads?

Better to use the correct gaskets. I think Real Steel do a composite gasket to suit the 3.5, amd it has 14 holes, although I would go with the idea of throwing the outer row away. I've done it to all my previous V8's without issue.

    Fuel Injected fun...

It surely is, and once you understand the basics of the system it's so fundamentally simple you wonder why people persist with carburettors, I mean when was the last time you had to balance an efi system? To be honest, coupled up to a ZF 4HP22 (with off the shelf parts available to make it...

    Fuel Injected fun...

I've always been a great believer in 14CUX on V8's. It gets knocked by some who seem to think it's a pretty naff system that's past its best and unreliable, but personal experience tells me it's a lot better than that. I converted several of my old V8 powered trucks to efi, including dumping a...

    Hello, or other generic greetings...

The current collection eh? I've got a few pictures, and a few of some of the others I've had too. At present, I'm running this old crate as my daily drive after my now ex wife took a hammer and a set of wire cutters to my 110 Station Wagon... My 110, originally a V8, currently running a 3.5...
