Thanks for the replies! I made sure every connection is airtight now and no sticking of the brakes anymore! That is a plus! Braking is better now but still not as good as modern car. My volvo 265 from 1980 brakes a lot better.... But for now it is driveable. I still think that the single system...
Not many ideas.....
But I finally think I got how this system actually works. That is why my posts might not have been understandible in the first place because I did not understand how it worked.
But here is what I think:
There are two membranes one in the booster a big one and one in the...
thanks for your reply. "Wet and dry" is emeraldpaper, sandpaper I guess? I will take a look today to see if I can get the little plunger to move today.
edit: Just looked at the little plunger/rubber in the front of the MC that actuates the airvalve. That seems to work normal! I can push it...
Well this is really perfect........I took the airvalve apart and everything looked ok. ( should because the masterbrake cylinder is only few years old.) Drove a few miles just to see how things were and it drove ok. But when I wanted to drive it into the garage backwards I noticed it deed not...
Hi,
I have a brake problem. Last weekend I drove with my rover (3500 auto 1976). And the brakes were dragging not only dragging but at some point they were stuck. I released the vacuum hose from the manifold and eventually the brakes freed up.
Since then the brakebooster does not seem to work...
Not much happened in the meantime. Put a lot of energy in my other projects being an old house and I bought a 2002 ambulance which I will be converting into a camper. Mercedes Sprinter.
What I am doing is changing the doors for better ones. They are already painted in off course slightly the...
In the case of sparkplug parts I would think to see more scuffing and scratches above the piston rings. While now it is only under the piston rings....
Well actually they do and this Rover has had some welding before I got it. As you can see on the first page or second of this thread the rear suspension toplink mounts were quite rusty.
My country is the Netherlands, Wet , salty winters and not so high temperatures.
So this one has been...
I never actually looked under the outer sills.........
So today I took them off and looked behind. Not knowing what to expect.........

I am relieved though. They look absolutely great!!!
So the MOT which is needed every two years was there again. It passed with no remarks! So another two years !!. My car is from 1977 so only two times more and it will be MOT free!!
today I changed the inside doorhandles:
I did not know that the fittings are different!! it has a star...
So this morning I started with th installation of the pertronix ignitor type 1.
First remove the old stuff from the distributor:
and off course it just did not fit. The plastic parts were just a little to high so I could not place the clip.
so sanded it down a little bit about 1 mm:
so...
was not the dab118 module together with the 35 DLM 8 distributor??
My 35DE8 does not have such a module.
pertronix LU-281 is for the 35DE8 distributor
pertronix LU-181 is for the 35D8 distributor
I bought the LU-281
I fully agree with you. I also thought that it was very odd to put that on a box. "Never change points again" on something that never had points in the firstplace.
But the box is the same for every set you buy. It is the sticker/label on top that shows what model is in the box.
This kit was specifically adviced for the lucas 35DE8 distributor. So I think it will fit. Were there any 35DE8 Distibutors with points made? I thought they all were electronic ignitions?
So it has been a while.
I have a Lucas 35 DE 8 distributor. This was already in when the car was bought. I do not use the resistance wire and 12 volt wire from the starter motor. I use a point from behind the fusebox from the white wires. These are 12 volt as soon the ignition is on. Also during...
Well,
the guy who refurbished the startermotor will replace the solenoid for the correct type. Apparentley this set up will not work!!! I might let it be htough because I take my 12 volt not from the startermotor but from the white wire of the fusebox. This wire give stwelve volt during starting...
My 3500 autyo from 1976 will not start . So tried a lot of things and also changed the starter motor for a refurbished one I had ion the shelf.
This starter motor was the early type. It is a lot bigger and therefore a pain to install!!! But I succeded.
This starter motor had a solenoid with...
Wow what a nice project! Must be the nicest 2000TC on the planet by now!!! I like the fact that it is from 1968 ( I was born that year). A pity you live so far away! I would love to see this car in real life.
Keep up the good work!!
Well the pump eventually leaked. The housing was not petrol proof. So I bought a new pompo and installed it. Works great. No regulator needed unitil; now.
this morning I removed the gear lever where the seat for the gearchangelever was completely perished. That is where the slack came from off course.
for good access I removed the propshaft and took the gearlever out.
Since I see no way to remove the pin I just installed the other (Older)...
I like the stainless slider so I will try to mount that in my late p6. But I am curious whether I can put it on a bw65 without having to take the engine out. But I think i will hav eto try and look for myself what is possible.
