Hmm, interesting. Any Idea where can I get some more SD1 guts? What would be cheaper? Get a high volume kit or SD1 cover? But then I surely have to change the dizzy? I think it will be less fuss to install a kit witha spacer plate. My car already been converted to electric pump so the hole has...
To be honest I am not interested in mental amounts power, just a slight gain and reliability. The rear seal is already of modern type ('75 car) and can't see any leaks around it. Difference beteeen the blocks, yeah stiff block has got some more webbing around the crank which is good for a lot of...
well, engine has done only 70000. By V8 standards it is just run in. My main concern is the cleanliness of oil tracts. I'll get the crank out just to have a look at it but engine was always sound and it pulled likea train so I am not worried. Any scouring on the bearing would imply neglect by...
Hey, I got it on the stand last night and started to clean it. Ever tried to wash off 30 years of gunk on a V8 the engine? That thing has never been cleaned and at the front where it was leaking oil from rockers there is a 10mm thick layer of rubbery goo. Found thet the best way about it is to...
Just consulted my trusty haynes "tuning rover V8 engines". V8 weights 144kg including heads if we are talking all ally version. Bloody crankshaft weights 36kg! It will be just under 200kg including box and converter.
???. What have you been fed, steroids?!? That thing must weight a ton! Even minus box and bell housing. What is the actual weight of a complete engine? Maybe I was overdoing on tackles and hoist. It is more then 200kg, right?
Thats what I am about. This box worked perfectly 3 years ago, when I kicked down from stationary it nearly dug through the planet. I say slugishnes and lack of kickdown comes from the engine running on 6 and varnish in the carbs, and their dampers are bone dry. It just have no muscle to spin up.

Thanks for that. How much to get it overhauled? Just curious, as I am usually skinned, and, being an adventurous bugger, I would rather take it on myself saving the labour costs and put the cash where it counts ie. parts. Still, if the price is right I might consider the spending as I heard that...

What can I expect from an autobox after it was laid off for 5 years with only an occasional static run through the gears? The kickdown stopped working thats for sure. Will I need to overhaul it or just a clean up and adjustments plus new fluid will do?

Hi all. Can anyone tell me what are the best mounting points for an engine stand on a V8 block? I've got a four point Sealey stand and I need to know what is required to safely attach the engine to the stand without a danger of it falling off or damaging the block. Any advice will be graeatly...
Hi all! I just succesfuly removed V8 lump out of my car. I was rashing to get it done before the sunset and I managed to murder the inhibitor switch on my BW65. Are they possible to buy?

Thay are a non-perishable variety, which is polyurethane I hope. Well, I have to bite the bullet if I want to pass MOT. Are the ones from JRW rubber or poly?
