1971 3500 Auto...

Does look nice.

Is that an alarm fitted too? Looks like it's key activated from the driver's door.

Yep, looks like a peroid Selmar (spelling?) with the pendulum that set of the horn on contact, they were usualy key switched. Looks like a Sparkrite electronic ignition on the right too :D
Shocked I've never seen this one about as it's only minutes from my house and work

I love the colour.... is it Scarab or Corsica Blue, I can never remember which is which?!!

Nidge

It'll be Corsica at that age. Scarab came in in 1973 IIRC. Scarab is (excluding Wedgwood on the early 2000's) the nicest blue IMHO.

Thanks Nick

I posted this one up over on the popular classics forum and have just read the replies.... one chap recognised the car having viewed / tested it back 2005, he says the A pillars had filler in them and it broke down on him. Another poster said the colour was Zircon....

EDIT : agree on Wedgie Blue Nick..... there's a particularly nice example featured in an episode of the old ITC series 'Strange Report' from 1968 which I've been watching (Anthony Quayle in a private detective caper, only the one series made sadly). Last time I was at Jim Brown's emporioum there was a similar car parked up out front, in need of some TLC but possessing large dollops of period character simply because of the colour 8)

It looks mighty close to Atlantis comparing Ruedigers pics, could be a trick of the light though as that colour wasn't out till later. That could explain the mix between the two shades :)
The owner may know

Jim's had that car for several years - it's an 'A' suffix car with real wood. I've tried on more than one occasion to buy it from him. Unsuccessfully.

It has a defective gearbox, no second gear if I remember rightly.

This is the car Jim Brown's had for several years. IIRC it's got about 70k on the clock and a host of original documentation.

This Wedgie is my good friend Simon Hill's car, restored by Clive Annable in 2007. Beautiful car. Here she is with Simon, my better half Heather and Jim Clark, who drove a fair few 2000's in his time.

The other great Wedgie I know of belongs to John Windwood. His is a Rover factory car with an experimental gearbox (extremely long legged, last time I tried to keep up with him I didn't have a hope), Girling brakes installed by the factory in 1967. Regretably I don't have a photo of this one near to hand.

I bought a Wedgewood car from E-Bay about 2 years ago to try and save, but it was so far gone it was ridiculous
I drove a stupid distance to get it with all good intentions and a trailer.
All I could do was save the good bits to help others :|

Great pics Nick, many thanks for those! Jims Wedgie was looking a bit worse for ware the last time I was there back in 2007, it was covered in dust and had a few spares dumped on the bonnet. I remember looking inside and inhaling great lungfulls of Series 1 aroma, lovely. I wonder why he won't part with it.... even though I was there to buy a P5B Coupe from him I was tempted by the Wedgie and he just smiled and said 'hmmm, needs a lot of work...'
