Model: Rover P6
Variant: 3500 V8 Automatic
Year: 1971
Mileage: 108,800 miles (ish)
Tax: 11 months (Exempt)
MOT: 10 months
Location: Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire
Price: £1000 as I don't have the time to fix the box!

Sadly I think it's time to sell the V8. I just don't drive it enough. Insurance came through (which I've just paid) and reminded me I've probably driven it 6 times in this last year!

1971 Rover P6 3500, fitted with the excellent 3.5 litre Rover V8 and a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic. The car is finished in “Mexico Brown”, with vinyl pillar trims, and has a tan leather interior.

It has a recent MOT, which it passed with no advisories or work other than a light bulb needing doing, and is tax exempt (with a current disc until I think end of May).

The Rover has covered 108k miles and has had five previous owners (two from the same family), one of which subjected the car to an extensive ground-up restoration and rebuild over an 18 month period some years ago – consequently the car is in very good order throughout requiring very little work to bring it to concourse condition.

This particular P6 runs, drives, rides and stops extremely well and is, barring the wheels, as it left the dealership, right down to the fully-functioning and immaculate “Radiomobile” radio.

In my ownership I've rebuilt the fuel pump (now starts easily even when laid up for a month or so), had the radiator recored and uprated, fitted an electric fan (not yet wired in as is now controlling temp far better with new rad so not needed). Also has had new battery and alternator. Also new headlamps (inners) to change from sealed beam.

Have a full set of original steels also available for additional cost to go with it as well if you don't like the alloys.

Good points -
presentable classic with V8 Burble, no rust that I can see
tax exempt
cheap classic insurance
lovely interior, not mint but really good condition
rear seat belts for the kids

Bad points -
small dent in boot due to dropping something on it.
minor paint defect on rear lower qtr
odd chip as you would expect for the age, no rust
gearbox is playing up, juddery on pull away, sometimes doesn't engage at all (possible slipping clutch?) so would say you would need to tow to collect. Reverse is fine so maybe reverse all the way home?
