1st time owner

That sure looks enough to get started with Greg, Hope you are a quick learner and get the knack of welding :)
look forward to your progress :D

A great oppotunity to get the history of the car written down whilst you have a link to the first days of the cars birth, worth it's weight in gold to know the full history and thre odd annecdote of its past ownership.

That soumds a terrific history! I imagine the previous owner will be very pleased to see it being given TLC. The offside front is pretty minor by P6 standards - most look more like, or worse than, the nearside!

Some of the holes towards the bulkhead of the inner wings provide access for water to the inside of the sills. So keep it well covered by tarpaulin or garage! You can tell if there is any water in there now by looking in the oblong depressions at either side of the rear seat base. These communicate directly with the sill, so if that is wet these depressions will be wet also.

Rich (rockdemon) advises a careful exam of the front bulkhead - the places specifically to probe are in the area where the suspension top link bolts to the bulkhead under the inner wing. This area is very critical to suspension geometry and there are known to be corrosion problems there occasionaly.

When you come to look at the rain channels at the top edges of the inner wings you will see that they are curved in plan view (from above). The repair panels that are available are straight, so you may well be better off making your own new metal, or locating a genuine Rover repair panel - they do exist, in fact I'd lay money on Ian Wilson at Rover-Classics having complete 4 cylinder inner wings!
