2000SC engine scrap?

I will be returning to blighty for a few days in feb and will take the opportunity to rescue 2 complete 2l SC engines that I have in my parents garage (along with a gearbox).

One of these engines is a very low milage one - BUT - has not been turned for about 15 years!! (kept in a very dry garage). Should I just donate it to a scrap yard - or is it likely to be Ok after all this time? I will not get the chance to do anything with it in the few days I will be there apart from dragging it onto a trailer.

You may aswell try turning it over or take it with in case you need parts.

not sure how much a cam shaft cost but I am sure it would be worth while.

The last Ray Weekley price for a camshaft I have is £165 + vat & postage. So a decent 2nd hander must be well worth hanging on to along with anything else you can salvage. If the tappets were quiet a head swap would be an easier option than setting up a new 'shaft too. Don't give the scrapper parts you may need one day.

How Much???? Cough Cough

I shall approach the dust covered lump with new respect!

My next project after the estate is my old green 2000 (originally an SC but swapped engine a while ago for a TC). But always handy to have a few spares I guess.

£95+ for a crankshaft too. The list goes on so love that old dusty lump & give it a decent home until you need it as you inevitably will one day. ;)
