2200 LPG conversion - recommendations?

Hello!

I would like to convert a 2200 P6 to run on LPG. Can you recommend
somebody who can do it for low money?
Is it a good thing to do?

where abouts in the country are you from(or even which country)
it would help someone to be able to tell you if there is someone near you or even a p6 you could have a look at and ask the opwner
 
I USE UNLEADED IN MY DAILY DRIVER, A 1971 P6V8 AUTO, AND MY 1970 TR6 2.5. AND, I USED IT FOR 10 YEARS AND 15,000mls A YEAR, IN MY 1975 DOLOMITE SPRINT, WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATION TO THE HEAD ON THE ENGINE, JUST A SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT TO THE TIMING + or - BY A COUPLE OF DEGREES, IF IT PINKS ONE WAY AND IS SLUGGISH,TURN IT THE OTHER WAY, PLAY WITH IT ONE DAY YOU ARE FREE TO TINKER AND TESTRUN, ALSO A SHOT OF SHELL OPTIMAX EVERY NOW AND THEN WILL HELP! 4 STAR IS EVEN BETTER. IF YOU CAN FIND IT, PUT A TANKFULL IN. AS THE HEAD IS ALLOY, IT "ALREADY" HAS HARDENED VALVE SEATS IN IT ANYWAY!! CHECK YOUR VALVE CLEARANCES ARE OK BEFORE YOU START,AND KEEP A NOTE OF THEM IN THE FRONT OF YOUR MANUAL. IF YOU ONLY DO A LOW MILEAGE,3-4k A YEAR, AND ARE NOT HAMMERING IT, YOU SHOULD NOT NOTICE ANY CHANGE IN THEM. CHECK THEM WITH YOUR ANNUAL SERVICE AND OIL CHANGE. :) OF COURSE, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION AND PAST EXPERIENCE AS A CLASSIC CAR USER SINCE 1977. AND A MOBILE MECHANIC FOR 7yrs IN THE 80s. I DID HAVE A 1984 FORD ORION FOR 2 WKS!!!! YUCK!! NASTY!! I GOT SHOT OF THAT FAST,AND GOT A '74' TRIUMPH 1500tc, MUCH MORE CHARACTER, AND EASY TO WORK ON!! :) ANYWAY.....THE COST OF AN LPG CONVERSION WILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO CLAW BACK IF YOU ONLY DO A LOW MILEAGE. IT WILL COST ANYWARE FROM £500 AS A [cheap job] BARE MINIMUM!!, UPWARDS. ITS REALLY ONLY A BENEFIT IF YOU ARE DOING LOTS OF MILES UP THE MOTORWAY. I DID TOY WITH THE IDEA FOR MY V8, BUT THE HIGH COST PUT ME OFF,I CAN DO 6yrs+ MOTORING ON THAT KIND OF MONEY!! GOOD LUCK , DAVE :;):

i think you should read his question, he is asking about converting to LPG and if any body knows where he can get it done, not about unleaded or four star or additives.

Ok.

Somebody with 300+ bhp under the bonnet of an old Saab
whom I met a the wiscombe hill climb today (what fun!)
suggested to stay clear of LPG conversions, 'cause it burns too hot and damages the head someway down the road. He suggested
a conversion to fuel injection with a modern engine management system. And I found this very intersting link.

Where do I find somebody able to do the work around Exeter
for less money than an LPG conversion costs?

In general, should it not be desirable to "upgrade" a tax exempt decent car with technological achievements such as EMG,
5-gear gear box, modern brakes etc.?

HI IAN, DID YOU READ ALL OF MY ANSWER?? I DID ACTUALLY ADDRESS THE LPG QUESTION, ALBEIT AFTER I NOTICED MY ERROR. I HAD JUST BEEN READING ANOTHER ITEM, RE UNLEADED AND CONVERSIONS,GOT A LITTLE MIXED UP SO I DID NOT BOTHER TO ERASE IT, ITS ALL RELEVANT INFO AFTER ALL! IF YOUR LPG PINKS, PLAY WITH THE TIMING A BIT, THE SAME AS YOU WOULD FOR U/L! :laugh: DAVE
