3500 auto box has leaked!

Morning guys and a happy new year to everyone.
I've come back from new year in Scotland to find lots of pink fluid under the car!! Now I know this is the colour of the auto gearbox oil, but am a bit of a loss why it should suddenly have leaked out. Could someone with a bit more of a grasp on physics and metals and gearboxes in general suggest anything as I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to things like this. I'm assuming the extreme cold followed by unseasonly mild temperatures in Exeter have maybe caused it, or maybe a gasket or something has just perished.

I can see no option other than getting underneath and having a look. Have you just lost a pint or two or the whole lot ?

Although I'm not sure of the capacity without checking, It doesn't appear to have lost a huge amount - maybe a pint or so. I'll get on me back and have a look as soon as I get a chance (ooh err missus)....
