3500S Factory Prototype

Back on ebay again.. didn't get any bites the other week when it was up.

I've seen the car, and although it's a unique piece of Rover history, it's also not worth that much money.

It would be unique if it still had all its original "prototype" items on it!
Doubt if it was fitted with a sd1 5sp box in 1970 either!
Not a prototype in the true sense either, more of a test bed mule!!

I know the car (and owner) well, and it is the real deal. Being a factory hack though it has done nigh on 500000 miles, so there's not a lot left of what it originally was.

Mark and I have uncovered quite a lot of additional info on the test cars circa 1970 recently, and we're collating info for an article in the near future. More to follow!

Sounds interesting :)

A bit mis described if you ask me?
Wasnt the first factory prototype 3500s built in around 1966 based on a 2000 shell??
Its not a true prototype!! its more likely just a test bed car for S2 parts!!! Albiet with an interesting history!
