Hi all

My brake master cylinder on my P6 3500S NADA was leaking so i went to rebuild it and the plastic retainer (#33 in the layout picture in the manual)on the small spring end is broken and the 2 plastic bearings (#37 and 39 in the picture) are scored and cut so i can see where the leak is coming from......i got a rebuild kit but of course these aren't included.....does anyone have these or know where to get them from......or better yet know where to get a rebuilt one ....The piston is banged up and the barrel does look the best
Ready to burn this thing in the garage
Cheers

Hello Bill,

If the bore is scored then you will have to get it resleeved in stainless steel, or get an exchange one etc. In which part of the world are you? Closest town or city?

Hi i'm in Ontario canada.....
The e type jag seems to have the same master cylinder as the Nada master cyl..same casting number 3212-212C has anyone bought one of these...the inlet and outlet look slightly different though

For anyone on the left hand side of the Atlantic, there's no better place than All British Cars. They can rebuild your existing m/c and I believe they also have a source for remanufactured ones

Just my 2 cents. I actually did get an early e type master cylinder for mine. The inlet and outlet are indeed slightly different, so I just took the correct ones off the old one and put them smoothly into place on the brand new e type master cylinder. So far so good. My only remaining problem is that the stem for the vacuum hose on the valve cover is pointing in exactly the wrong direction (straight into the engine bay wall). My understanding though is that this could (and does) vary from each individual unit. Its also relatively easily fixed by getting a slightly linger section of vacuum hose.

So far it looks like it will work very nicely. I hope I didnt just jinx it :)

Sorry i took so long to get back.....been too busy with new job to get on here or get Rover on road.....However i did get a new Jag Etype Master cylinder and with reusing my in and outlet fittings i have fully functioning brakes again......just have to fix my hand brake cable that looked good but has broke upon adjusting......just have to put in my new one and do a few odds and ends whenever i get some time and next spring i'm good to go
Thanks for the suggestions
