3500S Steering Wheel Question

Hello again :D

I have a question regarding the steering wheel on the P6 i'm buying. I have been looking at pictures of various models and it seems that the 3500S models had a steering wheel with leather covered spokes and a badge in the centre that has 3500 on the top, ROVER in the middle and 'S' at the bottom. Mine is a 1972 3500S and the spokes are alloy with gaps in the middle of them and the badge is the 'Rover' crest or viking ship. Is this right?

I thank you all

Hi Jimbob. I'm no expert, but I think your suspicions are correct, your 'S' ought to have the '3500 Rover S' steering wheel badge you describe. The leather wrapping on the 'spokes' might have been original but I reckon it looks cheap and nasty, I'd rather have the exposed metal. I reckon if you keep an eye on eBay you'll probably be able to get the right centre badge and just swap it in.

They aren't 3500S steering wheels, but the PAS wheel, the one with the bare spokes and 3500S centre badge is for the 3500S (obviously!), and the one with the covered spokes and viking maskot is for the auto.

As the cars are a minimum of 30yrs old now they can end up being fitted with anything.
