A lesson learned - use registered post for valuable items!

I recently bought a bunch of very rare and hard-to-find parts from a re-seller in the UK, which got lost in the post. I spent a week kicking myself for not having stipulated that they be sent by registered post, which is of course much more expensive. Today the goods arrived back with the seller. We are both relieved! A lesson learnt. If the items are irreplaceable, pay the extra! Looking forward to getting on with my project... :)

One more than that - if a registered post item goes missing they dont track it internally so cant say what's happened to it. For that you need Special delivery.

With anything of any value at all, I would NEVER use the UK postal service.

It is diabolical.

I used to send out mail shots, half of which didn't arrive so I called Royal Mail and was told that this is common with mail shots as most of them are binned by the recipient - so not Royal Mails fault according to them.

Then I explained that I had sent out 50 mail shots every week for the last 8 weeks, and with every one of them I sent one back to me, but only three of them were delivered. I no longer use the service if I can possibly help it.

I always use a parcel service with tracking facilities
