Air con on Ebay

Well, as the seller hints at; it's a retrofit system not specifically designed for any particular car, let alone a Rover. You can see it may have been fitted in & removed from a P6 from the photo of one of the vents on the rear shelf, but it's just a 'one size fits all' aftermarket aircon system.
If the refrigeration unit was in the boot I assume it must have had some substantial coolant carrying hoses running from the under-bonnet compressor back to it along the length of the car, mustn't it?
A bit like the rear heater hoses on a P5, though despite having an aircon-fitted car (a neater installation than this I think), I don't know much about it. I suppose the unit could go on top of the petrol tank to save boot space but mixing electrical contacts (if it has any) with possible fuel vapour escape may not be the best of ideas. It doesn't look like the ideal fitment for a P6, more suited to a Yank behemoth with an acre of trunk space not already fitted with aircon as standard.
