was caught short with no octane booster the other day so had to get some from another motorfactor, all they had was redex,my car wont even tick over now and the power is on and off,its that bad i think i'm gona drain the tank, anyone else had the same problem?

I used Redex years ago in my beetle, I dont know if it ever did any good but it used to fill the street with white smoke 8)
especially when you poured it neat down the carb & left it for half an hour.
Well I was young & daft then, So what's changed? I hear you ask well I'm older now & that's about it

Redex in the tank, never a problem. Drizzled directly into the carbs, loads of white smoke and seemingly better running afterwards. Never detrimental to performance.

How much did you pour in jonnydurex? If I recall it should be no more than a cap full.

Ron.

Are you referring to the old Redex upper cylinder lubricanr or lead replacement additive ? I think additives of different chemical bases don't mix

Have a look at your spark plugs

redex do loads of different stuff, the one you pour in the carbs and produces white smoke is for cleaning carbon deposits from the cylinder head

They do some petrol additives too,a red one that is just lead replacement and a yellowy one that is an octane booster too, dosage is entire bottle to 40 ltrs of fuel.found both to be awful!
