Are indicators, stop lights and squirters linked?

After six months of none use i suddenly have no indicators, stop lights, hazards or squirters (i also have no fuel, oil or temp gauge but these could the voltage regulator?)

It's a 1973 series 2 V8

On idle i have a flickering ammeter and on/off ignition light. I am replacing the alternator brushes this week

What i'd like is a fuse which controls the lights / squirters. They seems to on the same circuit (?) Is there a central point they all convene?

They did change them around a bit during the manufacture, but mine is fuse 19-20. What does it say on your fuse box cover for that one?

If you have a multi meter, try checking the voltage at the lower end of the fuse, and both sides of the brass clip that holds it, they can sometimes form a joint that won't conduct electricity, so although the fuse is ok, you don't get the feed to the regulator, brakes lights, water/oil/fuel gauges, washers, etc

Fuse 19/20 says Ignition system which, seeing as you've said is the one which controls all these items on your car, makes more sense. I didn't really know what it meant but definitely worth a look and voila, a broken fuse:

Now that i have found that it is obvious what happened. I did have an electric fan getting its feed from the squirter live wire. I was in the drawn-out process of replacing that fan with another and coming to the car for the first time in weeks / months connected the new fan before trying anything else and to my surprise it didn't work, and neither did lots of other things..

So obviously the fan at 120w is too powerful for where it was connected. No problem. Lesson learned. The original engine driven fan is back on for now

There was a spare fuse in the lid of the fuse box so that is in and all those items are now working :)

I have ordered a proper fuse to replace the spare

Many thanks :D
