balljoints

hi steve,
do you want one for the top or bottom front suspension leg or for the steering arms etc as they are different tools for obviously different jobs. a guy in doncaster has some for the steering arm ball joints £60.00 he wants for them. he advertised a few years ago in the magazine a jim smith, if that is the tool you want i will dig his number out for you.

hi ian i have a set from this guy i got them some time back but i cannot get to the track rod ends with this[tight space].i have a splitter tool but the fork at the bottom cannot get a good seat as it is too narrow.any further ideas cheers steve ???

I have used a sikes pickavant splitter several times to remove all the ball joint tapers. Its the two part type with a pivot pin in the middle - if you need a photo send me a message and I'll do it tonight. I think you can probably get them from an engineer/trade out let such as fasco, if not from a proper tool store in your area, not a DIY shed. They wont pull the joints out of the upright, but do open the tapers ok.

cheers i know the splitter you discribe and shall pick one up,as you say not every place stock them but i know a man who does.

update.sorted the steering turns out that the ball joints on one steering arm were shot .replaced this readjusted the steering box and everything seems ok touch wood.thanks for the info lads. :
