Battery box nuts!

After some period of trying to get the battery box knobs to fit, with the hooks appropriately attached, I saw a photo that shows that there should be some nuts that hold down the battery clamp – so, in all probability it is possible to attach the hooks and knobs and hold down the battery box lid!

Can someone tell me what thread size the nuts are? I have the lid and seals, knobs, hooks and rectangular battery clamp - but not the little nuts.

Thanks.

Hi, The nuts are 1/4" UNF which hold down the frame to secure the battery. The threaded hooks extend up beyond the frame, after the nuts are threaded on, you drop the cover over the rods and the knobs screw on to secure the cover. As I said in the other thread don't do the nuts up too tight because it can break the flange off the battery box, which can then fall down.

I made my own hooks and threaded them M6. Works perfectly.

Thanks! I realised how it all fits together when I saw a photo of it. I'd previously spent ages trying to get the hook/rods through the holes in the battery cover, while still attached to the retaining flanges - absolutely impossible!
