Best bodge discovery so far in 2007?

First of all I would like to wish you all a very happy new year.
I recently noticed that my project 3500 had non V8 front wheels, ie 5" width and not 5.5". I had a couple of spare V8 wheels, so offered 'Enzo' 4 new tyres for Christmas and painted up the rims prior to fitting.
I fitted them tonight only to discover that the car seemed to have its brakes locked on solid and would not move. The RH front tyre turned out to be blocked against the suspension leg. The LH side was fine. It seems that I have a 2000/2200 RH leg and a 3500 LH leg. Ahhhhhh!!!
The RH hub is 10mm less wide than the LH side. Can I get away with just changing the hub or does the 2000/2200 leg have a different camber rating/stub axel length?
Being based in Paris, getting a used RH leg is nigh impossible and postage prices from the UK are crazy.
I just wonder how long the car has been used like this?
Cheers, Philippe

Hi, Philippe,

All the legs (swivel pillars) are the same. Hubs and discs are different. That's obviously why its had the narrower rims fitted to the front.

Best bodge of 2007? Gosh so many! Im slowly stripping my car and the shell just gets worse and worse the more i look at it!

Thanks for the quick answer. I was a little confused because JRW lists a 'Bottom link strut assembly' which is different for the 2000/2200 and the 3500. I thought that this part was the swivel pillar.
So it seems that I have a RH 2000 hub with a V8 disc.
At first I thought the hub flange was a separate part simply bolted to the hub, but my parts manual lists them as one part. The flange is narrower on the 2000/2200 but the hub itself has the same width as the 3500.

The good news is that I should be able to get hold of one somewhere with reasonable postage costs!
Thanks again,
Philippe
