Bleeding rear brakes.

Hi, I was looking through some threads on bleeding our very unique brakes, I have put another flexy brake pipe into where the bleed nipple went and then down to a bracket I made to fit onto the diff, which makes bleeding the brakes very easy and I don;t have to raise the car up.I have tried to upload a photo but the board won't allow I will try to put the photo again.
Regards Ray.

Hi Ray,

Do you use a Girling brake hose clamp on the line between the reservoir and master cylinder so as to prevent air entering the system when you remove the flexible hose so as to refit the bleed nipple?

Ron.

Hi, unfortunately the upload picture directly feature is suffering as the quota on the server is full.

Once we manage to get the forum moved to the new server this will work. Sorry about that. In the meantime try using photo bucket or similar and post the link here with
surrounding it.

Rich.

Ron, as I read Rays post, another nipple will be on the end of the new flexi, making it a long but flexible bleed nipple extension.

John.
but I could be talking bollocks

Hi, Sorry I didn't explain, Yes there is a coupling and a bleed nipple on the end of the flexi pipe and it hangs down between the diff and the disc so it is level with the bottom of the disc I also made a little shield up to protect it I did this on my 2200 many years ago and it has worked well. Regards Ray.

Using that idea, you could actually route the new flexy hose upwards and have the bleed screw inside the boot so you wouldn't even need to climb under the car! :D

Hi Ray,

Thanks for the clarification. Hmmm, that does sound a neat idea!

If the flexible line that is used is of braided stainless steel as opposed to one of the rubber varieties, then its longevity, certainly in theory, will be substantially increased.

What did you attach to the free end of the flexible line in order to fit the bleed screw into it?

Ron.

Look forward to seeing the pictures. I talked about doing this a few years ago but in my normal, forward-looking proactive way, have done absolutely bugger all about it!

And I particularly like the boot idea.

I think I'm just lazy
It's not that often we use the rear nipple, only to change fluid or during a rebuild at the back. Would be great to have it in the boot but how often do you use such a mod? :)
