Boot Floor - hole in it

Hi...

Been looking around the P6 today and i found yet more rot in it, some welding required in the boot floor again! The area that has gone is around a plate in the centre of the floor, it looks like it was there from the factory with a plate sealed over it.

What is this hole for, its got me realy puzzled!

My thoughts on the plate is that it was used during production when base units were dipped in a paint/primer/cleaner or something and this was the pick-up point for the rear when mounted on the production line.

A simple plate covers the hole.

See what other ideas are!
