BRAKE PEDAL FLOP

After a 2 hour traffic jam on way home from town (car almost melted) found brake pedal had no pressure at top end of travel (able to lift up and down - very worrying at 60mph) and was hard when depressed.

When stopped (engine off) pedal pressure returned.
System in my V8 has been completely overhauled over last 2 years (new Master cylinder, servo re-cnditioned, new calipers & pads plus brake lines).

Any ideas on this problem - maybe a one-off due to overheating?

???

Could be water in the brake fluid? Absorbs water moisture and then boils. Had you been using the brakes quite a bit before this happened?

I try to change brake fluid annually.

Has the fluid in the reservior changed colour?

I hope it isn't!
System has been beld and flushed numerous times in last 12months.
I also use a film of sybthetic fluid on top of reservoir to prevent moisture absorption.

Is that a good idea ? I thought silicone and mineral brake fluids were best not mixed
Could the piston in your master cylinder have got stuck in the bore due to the heat ?
Is it OK now ?
