Brake warning light problem - Brake warning light flickers incessantly

Hi All;
My 2000TC (1971) suffers with an incessantly flickering brake warning light. I suspect that the culprit is a sodden float in the brake fluid reservoir, well it has been in there for the best part of 35 years! Is there any way to dry the float out and re-seal it or should I source a new replacement from somewhere?
Does anyone have a part number and details of a potential supplier?
Thanks
Bilmac :O

Could it also not be worn out pads? I think the pad warning lights are wired into the same circuit

Glad to see people using the forum on Xmas Day .I was going to but I thought people might think I had nothing better to do !! Like watching endless rubbish on TV......

Could well be indicating you are low on brake fluid. Mine did that and I kept thinking it was the float. Top it up and see and check if its leaking from the rear calipers!

I wrote an bit for the magazine about this.

It could be the cork float, the outer layer gets saturated in fluid which makes it stick to the steel tube.

If it is that then pull off the stell tube to revel the cork. scrap the outside with with a knife or similar until you get down to good cork.

This may work but don't rule out brittle wires, the wires on the cap are prone to it.

Once again, I say thanks to you all for the advice, I will look at it when I return in February.
