chassis stiffeners

That's from Alan Ramsbottom at Classeparts in Leighton Buzzard. Rover part No is JRC 1109 on page 14/70 of the parts manual. They were fitted to Police spec P6B's with heavy duty suspension. The front dampers with the HD suspension are Much stronger than standard spec and tended to crack and tear the lower damper mount from the chassis rail if these weren't fitted. They go either side of the damper mount and wrap around the chassis rail to spread the load. Cars in Australia with power steering suffered a similar chassis rail cracking problem and there is a next stage up mod kit, developed in Australia by the Rover Car Club of Australia, to reinforce the entire chasis rail and inner wing area which serves a similar purpose. This kit is also available from Alan. Alan also does some rather nice shock absorber mounting bushes moulded in a single piece rather than the normal split pieces. I think I prefer that solution to the bottom mount reinforcing kit. Lucky has the Australian mod and the bottom mount kit fitted:
