Welding cast manifolds normally results in them cracking/breaking again, and brazing, probably won't have the strength needed.

On the subject of the 3500S manifolds, they are the same as the later auto ones (BW65 on) and if the OP gets one, and there's another one available, let me know as I'm still looking.
 
I did ask the machine shop about welding it up, apparently the weld would be too hard to drill and tap to take the stud. I did suggest putting a bolt through instead but my mechanic friend told me off and said I had to do the job properly - point taken!!
