Door card plastic sheet question.

of course, what this thread reveals is the dreary inevitability of your doors filling up (and partly draining if you're lucky) with water. Can't imagine that happening with a modern.

I can assure you it still happens to moderns  when the Peugeot 308's came out, thier rear doors would fill up due to the lack of drainage holes. You could hear the water in them just by driving into the workshop :?

My Mark 6 Golf doors fill up with water for a pastime. They leak just on to the rubber seal attached to the sill.

There will be loads of rotten Golfs about in 10 years.

Thats why I suggested Wurth or 3M, no quality issues as its of high industry standard, dearer but a correct fix using this product

I hear you, and I use their products daily myself as they are good but like everything else these days the ingredients just aren't there IMO

Can't see a door membrane from today made by anyone lasting 47 years :| Have you tried Nitromors lately?

The government have banned the use of Dichloromethane in paint stripper for DIY use, and are banning it for professional use shortly, if they haven't done already.

Which is a shame because it is the active ingredient and nothing else works as well.

I think I will replace my plastic membrane with Visqueen membrane, if it's good enough for the foundations of my garage, I cannot see anything I'll do in the Rover frightening it.

I used polyester laminating film for mine because I use it at work and had a spare roll. The stuff you use for covering photographs and posters. Cut to size, peel off the backing, then it sticks itself down.

Having found my set of speaker-hole-less door cards and the plastic sheets, in pretty good order, and what with door window re-fitting coming along nicely, now seems like the time to ask what kind of glue I ought to use to stick the sheets back on? Doesn't look like the gloopy rubber glue for the bootlid seal, it looks whiter. I haven't got anything else in the lock-up apart from various superglue remainders, so what adhesive do I need to buy/borrow/steal now?

I used some spray glue, just the cheap carpet stuff, as it only needs to work until you get the door card on.

All the holes were sealed up with duct tape when I first got the car, but I haven't replaced it. I am wondering if it helps to reduce noise?
