Electric Windows...

Okay!! So I've tried modifying doors and such for a good electric window modification to nothing great.

What is a good aftermarket kit? Preferably I'd prefer to be able to reupholster the doors and not have the old cap over the top.. But if so.. then that is okay.

What kits have people used? Or could you recommend me one?
Wanting it on all 4 doors.

Thanks, Andy

Sorry no help with the kits, but I did just have a really neat idea, if you wanted electric windows but wanted to retain the totally stock look, how about leaving the winder handles on, but making them operate the switches for the window lift / drop, so you set them all up with the winders pointing straight down, and when you push the winder forward the window lifts, pull back to drop, obviously you don't wind it round and round, just a 1/2 inch movement each way.

I think that would be really cool, or am I just sad ?? Answers on a postcard..... :blues:

nice one Richard.

This is how I have rigged my windows up. I used sd1 doors and modified the motor to fit p6 winders and the switch is as you say the original winder handle with the sd1 door release as this moves both directions and is spring loaded.

Very neat. I still have some final planning as to how to operate the other windows from one switch. have been toying with the idea of removing the cigar lighter and fitting a switch with 4 positions like the head lamp one. This will keep it all looking standard.

On the other hand with windows that only need 2-3 turns to be fully down is it worth it. my works van on the other hand takes 27 turns to get fully down.

I had planned to do an article when I finish but at the rate I am going it will be years before I am ready.
