Fitting a car aerial.

Hi all,
Need to fit an aerial to the P6, the car never had a radio and from what I can see the only place to put an aerial is on the roof. What I'm wondering about is do I have to drop the roof lining and how hard / nasty a job is this ???? or does someone out there got a clever solution..
thanks, Thomas

I think if you undo the sunvisors and the rear view mirror and pull away the header panel carefully you will see a circular hole .I can remove my aerial by undoing the nut thro' this hole , so if you get your hole centred on this you should be OK
Use electrician's tricks like a length of stiff wire , curtain wire etc to thread the cable thro' the framework and down the pillar
Make sure the aerial can earth through it's base or it will pick up intereference
Good luck
Dave

I think that the hard part is running the cable through the front pillar.

I have seen p6's with the ariel on the rear wing, rear deceker panel and the front wing. So it isn't the only place you can put the ariel. I have been picked out in the past for not having an original ariel but it really depends on what you want out of the car.

Other options could be the rear screen ampilfier as fitted to SD1 and 800 series rovers. basically it uses the heating element as an ariel with a booster amp. The only difference it the a the 800 and sd1 have large sloping windscreens where as the p6 has a small steep sloping rear screen. So I am not sure how good a reception you would get.

It also would be ok in the front or rear wing as there is bags of room for an electric ariel.

hi,
i bought a low mileage 2200 TC a few years ago with it's original receipt of purchase and in the bill of sale ( from the supplying rover dealers ) along with everything else was a price for the fitted electric aerial, which was fitted in the rear o/s wing and still there but not working, so you could have an electric aerial and still be CORRECT as they say.

american cars had there aerials fitted in the o/s front wing ( our offside )

Thanks Lads,
The car lives over in Clifden Co.Galway so reception at best is poor. Interested in the electric aerial idea, the roof I thought was the best option as the wings on a P6 are steeply raked, didn't think one would be able to mount an aerial on the rear wing. I'll give an update later on, thanks again
