fitting boot seals

I have just bought a 1967 p6 2000. There was no seal on the base unit in the boot. I have got hold of the seal but havent got a clue how to fit it. Can anyone help?

Now that i know there was no lower boot seal on the series one model, i cant understand why the boot is still leaking. Could it be condensation? or if not is there anything else i can try to stop the leak?

The boot can leak from a few places.

I got the wife to throw bucket of water over the boot whilst I was inside it.

Areas concerned where the filler car rubber which had split and on the base unit around the splash seal under the wing had a hole the size of a 5 pence coin. The is also the deceker panel fixings. two of them come through the topof the boot and the rubber perishes. Water from here tends to run over the wheel arch and in to the sill unless the car is park with it's nose higher that it's tail then it runs into the boot.

It may sound obvious, but make sure that the bottom lip of the boot hasn't rusted through. I've seen them rust through right up under the lip the seal sits on which is hard to spot, and then with a little wind the water will find it's way in.
