fuel reserve tap

I replace the fuel tap on my car at the start of my restoration about 22 months ago as the original had seized up.

I swap them over and periodically would notice a drip.

The problem seems to be that the tap is not fully home either when open or closed.

The is otherwise in good conditon.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem or know a way to stop the drip. I do have another spare I could put on but want to avoid doing so if not required.

Cheers

hi,
undo the little screw on the cylinder and pull it apart, there is an 'o' ring in there and that is all that stops the petrol leaking out, with you opening and shutting the tap it is leaking past it. replace and it will cure the problem.

Hi, arthuy can you tell me if Ians answer cured the leak, I have just encountered same problem, and an O ring sounds like good news!.
regards Joe. :)

Hi Joe,

Definatley cured the leak. I used a spare one I had so not sure whether the O ring is easy to get hold of or not.

Thanks for info Colin, I did ring Jeff at Weekleys who quoted low £20's for replacment, or areplacment petrol resistant washer for "chips!". Thanks for your reply.
Regards Joe.
